Boredom and cabin fever have begun to set in. Be on the look out for rants and raves and silly crap that may make little to no sense to most people.

19 days into this bump in the road I call unemployment and cabin fever is slowly setting in. I can only watch so many reruns of NCIS, and while Plants vs Zombies is a goofy but somehow addictive little game, I’m growing tired of that as well. I’ve put in applications, emailed my resume, etc. Waiting by the phone pretty much takes up the majority of days.

Though, I have found time to get back into doing some web site design, something I had no time to do before. I’ve found a little inspiration and will probably finish up tweaking this site over the next few days, into next week. What I should do is try to increase my web design skills a little bit as I know CSS and HTML but everything else I’ve just screwed around with from time to time and don’t really have a handle on. CSS and HTML alone won’t get me in the front door anywhere, let alone to the interview stage for anything.

Until now, I couldn’t even come up with anything to write about, here. But, there is enough crazy stuff going on lately, I should be able to start coming up with something. I’ve also been trying to come up with a website that could be useful for people. Nothing fancy, maybe a CSS templates or WordPress themes repository (though there are too damn many of these sites out there as it is), but something similar, I guess. If nothing else, I do have tons of time to think. With any luck a decent idea or two will pop out before I fry my brain.

It would seem I’ve now jumped around to enough things in one post.

Like so many others in this economic disaster, I now also sit idle, without a job.

Well, it’s been an interesting start to the week. Yesterday morning, I was at work for roughly an hour or so when I was informed that I was being pushed out of my job due to a merging of positions based on the economic downturn. Plainly stated, they determined someone else was better suited to do not only my job but also the position I had held previously, before my promotion almost 2 years ago. Go figure. I’ll spare all the details of how badly I feel I was backstabbed, at least for now.

While I should have been more aware that some kind of change was imminent. This was honestly the last thing I saw coming. Recent discussions on the possibility of merging positions entailed me offering to do both jobs, if(when) the situation arose.

Regardless, what’s done is done. Or, to coin an often used and extremely annoying cliche that ran through my office quicker than the swine flu epidemic, “It is what it is”

So now, I sit combing through the classifieds and job websites. A strange feeling, to say the least, with almost 9 years at the same company, in many different capacities. I was comfortable, obviously too much.
